Welcome to Story Wise, a place for people who want to work, play, learn or grow with stories.
I tell, in the oral tradition, stories, long and short, fiction and true, to kids and adults. I love casting the spell as the story unfolds and transports us to another time and place.
I am also an oral storytelling teacher, for ‘story-seekers’, people looking for understanding, connection, growth, and a good story. Together we find, build, tell and maybe rethink the most important stories of all – the stories from our own lives.
Creating and telling well-crafted stories from our past is fun, helps convey something to others, and in the process we come to better understand our lives and who we are.
Another way of working with our stories is to look at our thinking, at the stories we create to explain the world, that we then tell ourselves is truth. In this work we look for the stories that don’t serve us, that keep us in fixed and destructive patterns, and then we seek to create a new story.
I also use story in collaborative processes to connect us, and help us understand, remember and if necessary heal our shared experiences. And I do all of this in workshops and retreats and anything in between.
And if you’re not sure why all the fuss about stories, have a read here.
